Aldi Difinubun

Living and working in Eora country, Aldi Exandro Difinubun (b.1999) is an Indonesian-Australian artist whose practice consists of camera-based performance and installation. Difinubun's practice is concerned with notions of cultural identity and selfhood as constructed assemblages; where the body is an intersection of contradictory parts. Tension, constraint and precarity become visual modes through which these contradictions are materialised. Through performance and installation, Difinubun considers the unresolved nature of tension. The figure, in body and object, anticipates both catastrophe and relief. In this state contradiction holds itself open. Difinubun approaches identity not as subject matter, but as an understructure for practice.

Aldi Exandro Difinubun was a finalist in the Fischer's Ghost Art Award 2024 and was the recipient of both the Standish & Co. Scholarship and the Joel Corrigan Memorial Award in 2023. Most recently they exhibited with Minerva and Mega for The Sculpture Show (2025). Additional exhibitions include Mojo KitKat with schmick contemporary at SUPERMARKET Stockholm Independent Art Fair (2024), and Hooray for Hollywood at Hollywood Hotel, Surry Hills (2023).
