My practice explores the complexities of identity by challenging fixed notions of self and exposing the constructed layers of self-representation. Working in the expanded field of painting, I incorporate installation, performance, and digital technology to create immersive, multi-sensory experiences. The work functions as a performative revisal of personal experience, using autofiction to navigate the fluid and socially constructed nature of identity in contemporary culture. By blending autobiography with fiction, I investigate the artist’s capacity to shape meaning through self-disclosure, examining the dynamics of control inherent in how we influence others and the events around us. This becomes an alchemical process— involving a seemingly magical process of transformation, creation or combination, where new forms and meanings are revealed.
