Elena Larkin

Elena Larkin (b. 1992) is an artist originally from Bundjalung land (rural NSW). Her practice explores notions of care and the ways in which immersive experiences of painting en plein air can foster interspecies kinship. Troubled by how capitalist systems distort our relationships with the more-than-human world, Elena is interested in how creative processes might help us reconnect and reimagine our relationships with the earth and nonhumans, while offering a cathartic space for ecological grief.

Elena holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours (Creative Writing) 2018 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) 2023. She won the 9x5 Landscape Prize in 2022, and has been shortlisted in prizes such as The Macquarie Emerging Artist Award 2024 and the Paddington Art Prize 2024 where she received the Residency Prize.
