Buster Allanson

Buster Allanson is a multidisciplinary artist residing on unceded Gadigal Land (Sydney, Australia). What is the body capable of becoming? Through the exploration of embedded histories, my artistic practice queries how our creative decisions are impacted. Analysing affective experiences, the everyday, and alternative archives, I adopt an autoethnographic approach that values the process of emotion and lived experience as legitimate forms of knowledge. This body of work considers the social and material weight of the female body through a feminist lens and through the exploration of contrasting elements such as weightlessness and fragility via the materiality of rice paper, contrasted with concrete and its semiotic weight and connotations of labour.
